Spark of Love Toy Drive - Update

We collected over 70 new, unwrapped toys instead of class and shoot fees last weekend. A few people have asked if they can bring toys this weekend (Dec 17th-18th) and we will accept any toys delivered to the range until Monday 19th when we will be turning the toys over to the Pasadena Fire Department.
Update on Officer Elections
The only nominations for President were from people wanting to make sure that I continued in the post. We had one nomination for Vice President and as the current Vice-President, Van Webster said that he would step down there is only one candidate for Vice-President. With only one nomination for each position the nominees automatically fill the positions. The new vice-President will be announced at the Annual General Meeting. As Van steps down I would like to warmly thank him for eight continuous years of dedicated service to the club - longer than any other officer in the history of the club.
Starting Saturday, 17th September 2011 the instruction program schedule will be:

General Information
Pasadena Roving Archers is an archery club that has been dedicated to the art of the bow and arrow in Pasadena’s Lower Arroyo Seco Park since 1935. Incorporated as a non-profit organization, our membership includes men, women, young adults and children. It is a melting-pot of archers from all walks of life. PRA is home to beginners, weekend enthusiasts, regional, state, nation and international champions and maybe a future Olympic Gold medal winner. All are bound together by the sport of archery. All archers are required to adhere to the Range Rules.
Free Saturday Morning Archery Classes
RANGE CLOSED
The range will be closed Saturday December 24th 2011 (classes) and Sunday 25th December 2011 (NFAA Field rounds) this year. Classes will be held on Saturday December 31st 2011 but the range will be closed on Sunday January 1st 2012 as the city prepares for the Rose Parade.
We conduct an ongoing program of archery instruction classes for people interested in learning the sport of archery. PRA offers a Beginner's class and public instruction.
Classes are held every Saturday morning from 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon throughout the year at the PRA range (You can use Google or Bing to find us). These classes are popular and fill up quickly so we recommend that you arrive at the range by 7:45 a.m. in order to be fitted with equipment. The first time archer class will run from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. The introductory class is free and we invite a donation of $5.00 for subsequent classes.
Classes are open to all residents of Pasadena and Southern California. Everyone is welcome to participate. Children under 10 years old are offered an evaluation and introductory archery session every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM at Target 1 on the range. All young archers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Attention Group Leaders: Saturday morning classes are for individuals and families, not groups. Pasadena Roving Archers welcomes groups, scouts and parties to the range on an appointment basis. To lean more about our group lessons click here. Please do not bring a group of five or more people to our regular Saturday morning instruction program. We have a very limited number of volunteer staff and are unable to accommodate the additional load of groups in the morning.
Pasadena Roving Archers also offers a 7 meeting Basic Archery Instruction Program (BAIP) class for new archers who want to learn effective shooting form. The six meeting BAIP class costs $70.00 and includes instruction and equipment use. Adults who complete the class and who wish to continue in archery are encouraged to join the club and to take advantage of our Mentor Program for intermediate archers.
This is a shooting sport, and all students, regardless of age, must, in the opinion of the instruction staff, be able to safely and comfortably handle the equipment.

Pasadena Roving Archers conducts an NFAA regulation club shoot or qualifier every Sunday morning. We shoot 28 field or hunter targets (not to be confused with 3-D targets, hunter targets are simply a different type of field target) or a combination of the two. All of our events are open to guest archers who wish to participate.
A 3D tournament is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
A 300 tournament (30 arrows at 20 yards) is held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.
PRA sponsors three fundraising tournaments during the year. The Oaktree 3-D tournament in May, a traditional shoot in October and the 21 or Bust tournament in early December. Trophies, Food and a Raffle are part of these events. All archers are invited to participate in our tournament offerings. Archers from all over the state come to compete in these events.
