First-Time Archers

Many people think the sport of archery is intuitive and requires little effort. In fact, archery is as much a martial art as Tai Chi and as physically precise as yoga or dance and requires mastery of numerous skills and techniques. Our First-Time class will set you on the path to becoming a skilled archer.

Who: The First-Time Archers class is open to everyone! Students, regardless of age, must be able to follow instructions and safely handle the equipment. Students under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian whom we encourage to also take the class.

range-mapWhere: All students meet on the PRA practice range across the bridge from the parking lot (see map above).

When: Classes are held on Saturdays except on the first Saturday of each month, which is reserved for the City Credential Class.  Also, there are no classes the last two weekends of December and classes may be cancelled because of weather or conflicts with other events. Whenever possible, advance notice of cancellations will be posted on the PRA website. Last-minute cancellations may also be posted on the PRA’s Facebook page.

Time: Saturday morning,  7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Students should arrive not later than 7:45 AM to be checked in and fitted for their equipment before class.

Cost: Due to the high number of last-minute cancellations and “no shows” there is now a $5.00 nonrefundable reservation fee for this class.

Equipment: All archery equipment is provided without charge. First-time archers will not be allowed to use their own equipment so please do not bring any to the range for your class.

Registration: Click on the button below to view upcoming class dates. Please be prepared to enter the name, address, email, and phone number for all participants. Failure to provide complete and accurate information may result in your reservation being canceled.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTES:

  • Please do not register for multiple dates. You only need to take the first-time archers class one time. You may not repeat the class. Duplicate registrations will be canceled.
  • Each adult must complete their own registration and sign their own waiver! Adults may not sign waivers for another adult – the name on the registration and the signature must match.
  • Minors (under the age of 18) must be registered using a “Child” ticket, not an “Adult” ticket, and their waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

NEW CLASSES ARE POSTED AT 12:00 NOON ON FRIDAYS AND OFTEN FILL WITHIN MINUTES OF BEING POSTED!

If all classes are full, check back later. While rare, we do occasionally have cancelations in which case a space, or spaces, will become available after registrations are filled.

Please don’t email us because you are having a hard time registering for classes. We understand your frustration but these classes are very popular and, to maintain the highest quality of education possible,  we place strict limits on our student instructor ratio.  There is  no waiting list and “walk-ups” will not be accommodated under any circumstances.
