Target Archery is the most recognizable type of competitive archery and is often seen at major tournaments such as the Olympic games. In Target Archery, the archers shoot a specified number of arrows from a particular distance, rather than moving from one target to another. At PRA we offer an array of Target Rounds.
300 Round
The PRA holds two 300 Rounds on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at the main practice range. Set-Up, Target Pasting and Practice begins at 7:30A and 9:30A. The tournaments officially start at 8:00A and 10:00A.
There is a $5 entry fee for guests, but there is no cost for PRA members.
A 300 Round consists of 10 ends of 3 arrows each shot at 20 yards. This timed competition is for archers wishing to compete at shorter distances. It is ideal for younger archers and those shooting with lighter poundage recurve bows. It is also the perfect introduction to competition for beginning archers who have a desire to move into competitive archery and for those looking to develop their shooting skills.
900 Round
The PRA holds a 900 Round on the 1st Sunday of each month at Target Bale #22. Set-Up, Target Pasting and Practice begins at 7:30A. The tournament officially starts at 8:00A.

A 900 Round is the similar to shooting three 300 Rounds in a row, except that each round of 30 arrows is shot at a different distance. The 900 Round is held at distances of 60, 50 and 40 yards, beginning at the farther distance and moving forward. Each distance consists of 5 ends of 6 arrows for a total of 30 arrows at each of the three distances. 30 arrows each shot at 60, 50 & 40 yards make for a total of 90 arrows with a possible perfect score of 900 points.
This competition is geared toward experienced archers. Making the 60 yard distance generally requires a bow with a draw weight above 20 lbs.
720 Round
The PRA holds a 720 Round on the 3rd Sunday of each month at Target Bale #22. A 720 Round, also known as an Olympic Round, is a long distance target archery competition which is the standard for the Olympic Games. It consists of seventy two total arrows, each worth a maximum of ten points shot at distance of 70 meters (approx 77 yards) for recurve archers & 50 meters for archers using compound bows.
This competition is also geared toward more experienced archers as making the 70 meters distance generally requires a bow with a draw weight above 20 lbs.
