PRA annual trophies are awarded to PRA members at our Annual Awards Banquet, which is usually held in February. Trophy winners are determined by scores collected during the calendar year, from January 1st through December 31st. 1st through 3rd place trophies are awarded for each type of tournament PRA hosts, and for each NFAA/USAA recognized bow style as well as age category. Archers must complete the minimum number of each tournament type during the calendar year to be eligible for awards in that event . The minimum number of completed tournaments is 3 per event, per bow style.
- Field Rounds and/or Hunter Rounds: 3
- Animal Rounds: 3
- 3D Rounds: 3
- 300 Rounds: 3
- 720 Rounds: 3
- 900 Rounds: 3
Please note that the requirement is per bow style (per year). For example, if an archer shoots two 300 rounds with an Olympic Recurve bow, and one 300 round with a longbow, he or she is not yet eligible for any awards for 300 rounds. He or she must shoot at least another 300 round with an Olympic Recurve bow, and another two 300 rounds with a longbow to be eligible for trophies in those two bow categories.
Additionally, scorecards must be filled out correctly, completely and legibly including name, bow category, age division, scores, totals and be signed by 3 individual archers (2 scorekeepers & a witness) any one of which can be the archer to whom the scorecard belongs.
PRA members wishing to submit a score to be considered for awards, MUST complete the round witnessed by 2 additional archers and have said witnesses sign their scorecards before submission. Scorecards submitted by competitors who shoot and score alone without the necessary verification, will NOT be accepted.
Perpetual Trophies
In addition to the above mentioned tournament trophies, PRA has several “Perpetual” trophies that PRA members who compete in tournaments are also eligible to win. PRA Perpetual trophies bear the names of every winner throughout the years, and each year’s winner gets to keep the trophy for one year, until the next winner is determined. The winner also receives a corresponding award that they get to keep.
High Aggregate
PRA’s oldest perpetual trophy, dating back to 1976, the High Aggregate trophy is awarded to the archer whose cumulative scores in the following 4 events (Field Round, Hunter Round, 3D Round and Animal Round) total the highest aggregate score throughout the year.
Freestyle (FS)
Since 1979, the Freestyle perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Freestyle bow category.
Freestyle Limited (FSL)
Since 1991, the Freestyle Limited perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Freestyle Limited bow category.
FITA or Freestyle Limited – Recurve (FSL-R)
Since 2003, the FITA perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the FITA bow category.
Bow Hunter Freestyle (BHFS)
Since 1991, the Bow Hunter Freestyle perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Bow Hunter Freestyle bow category.
Bow Hunter Freestyle Limited (BHSFL)
Since 1979, the Bow Hunter Freestyle Limited perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Bow Hunter Freestyle Limited bow category.
Bow Hunter (BH)
Since 1979, the Bow Hunter perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Bow Hunter bow category.
Barebow (BB)
Since 2002, the Barebow perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Barebow bow category.
Traditional
Since 2002, the Traditional perpetual trophy goes to the archer who shot the highest Field Round or Hunter Round score of the year in the Traditional (Traditional Recurve or LongBow) bow category.
Couples
Since 1985, the Couples trophy (Formerly called the Mr. and Mrs. Trophy) goes to the couple whose combined highest Field Round and/or Hunter Round scores total the highest score of the year.
Walt Powell Ironman
Since 1999, the Walt Powell Ironman trophy goes to the male archer who shot the highest Ironman score of the year. An Ironman consists of completing both a 3D Round and a Field Round or a Hunter Round on the same Sunday, and adding both scores together. This is only possible to do on the 3rd Sunday of the month, since those are the only Sundays we host a 3D Round.
Matilda “Babe” Bitzenberger Ironwoman
Since 2016, the Matilda “Babe” Bitzenberger Ironwoman trophy goes to the female archer who shot the highest Ironwoman score of the year. An Ironwoman consists of completing both a 3D Round and a Field Round or a Hunter Round on the same Sunday, and adding both scores together. This is only possible to do on the 3rd Sunday of the month, since those are the only Sundays we host a 3D Round.
Youth Ironman
Since 2012, the Youth Ironman is the youth version of the Walt Powell Ironman.
Female Junior Archer of the Year
Since 2011, the Female Junior Archer of the Year is chosen by the JOAD coaches.
Male Junior Archer of the Year
Since 2011, the Male Junior Archer of the Year is chosen by the JOAD coaches.
Wright Huff Perpetual Award of Excellence to a Junior Archer
Since 2012, The Wright Huff Perpetual Award of Excellence to a Junior Archer is chosen by the JOAD coaches.
